Mrs. Anita Reaves St. John
Welcome to my page! This is my 11th year in Calhoun County Schools and 26th year of teaching in Alabama. I am delighted to be part of the Career Academy's faculty as a Gifted Specialist. Although this is a new position for me with Calhoun County schools, I previously taught gifted in Elmore County Schools. I took a break from gifted when I moved home and have been teaching at Ohatche Elementary for several years.
I attended Jacksonville State University for my bachelor's degree in elementary education and added on early childhood certification at Auburn University in Montgomery. I received my master's degree in special education, focusing on gifted & talented education, from the great University of Alabama.
I am a graduate of Ohatchee High School (1986). I started first grade there in 1974, back when it was all one school. I am married to Ricky St. John (a Ragland boy). Together we share four grown children and a precious granddaughter.
I am a huge Alabama fan, although I am married to a huge Auburn fan. Some of my favorite things are cats, the color purple, Winnie the Pooh, chocolate, roses, and peach tea (diet of course). I love to spend time with my family (especially Sunday lunches with my parents).
I am the contact teacher for Wellborn and White Plains schools.
Two of my favorite quotes:
"When life gives you a hundred reasons to frown, show life that you have a thousand reasons to smile."
"Don't be afraid to try something new. Professionals built the Titanic, and an amateur built the ark."
