Alabama's public schools have been given guidance by the ALSDE through the issuance of a "Roadmap for Reopening Schools". This was released to the public by Dr. Eric Mackey, our State Superintendent, and his team on Friday, June 26, 2020. Calhoun County School System is currently working through this roadmap and continuing to utilize the guidelines set forth by the Alabama Department of Public Health and the CDC in order to devise a plan for the 2020-2021 school year that best suits our system, and most importantly our students. Our plan will center around the safety of everyone in our school system and providing the best academic opportunities possible for our students.
While all of the details have not been finalized, our academic plan will focus on offering traditional, blended, and remote learning opportunities for our students. We are working diligently to consider every aspect of our students' educational experience. To that end, we will send out a survey to parents/guardians of all CCSS students to assist us with our planning efforts. We need and value your input. Please take the time to complete this survey; the information you provide will be vital to our planning process.
As information changes on a daily basis throughout our state, the nation, and globally, we will work to keep you updated on any changes that will apply directly to our school system. We ask that you keep in mind the information given today may not be applicable in a week's time. As of today, June 29th, 2020, our plan is to open our schools for students on August 5th, 2020. We will follow the calendar our school system adopted several months ago.
We appreciate your patience, understanding, and flexibility as we work to create a plan that is best for our students.
