To Send or Not to Send
Keeping a sick child home improves the time required for getting well and reduces the posibility of spreading illness. Below are some guidelines to help you make this often difficult decision.
Keep your child home if he/she has any of the following symptoms:
Fever - if greater than 100 degrees F; may return when fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medicine
Vomiting - within 12 hours
Diarrhea - within 12 hours
Pink Eye - This is very contagious; your child must be treated before returning to school.
Rash - Your child cannot return to school until the rash has been diagnosed and treated. It could be a contagious disease such as measles or chicken pox.
Skin Lesions (Sores) - Handled on a case by case basis.
