• Brian Gene Bussey: Helicopter Pilot and Aviation Manager (Chevron)

    • Graduated from Weaver High School in 1982. Seventh in the graduating class, participated in Football, Basketball and Baseball, receiving awards in football and baseball. Attended JSU on the accelerated high school program for Math and History during high school.

     

    • Entered the US Army in May 1985. Graduated from Warrant Officer Rotary Wing Flight Training in July 1986. Completed 9 years of service in the US Army and US Army Reserves flying the Bell UH1.  Attained the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 3 before leaving the Army Reserves in 1994

     

    • Returned to JSU in 1986, graduating with BS in Marketing and Management in 1988

     

    • Started civilian aviation career in June 1989 with the world’s largest Helicopter Operator, Petroleum Helicopters

     

    • Began work for Chevron USA’s Aircraft Operations in May 1991. During my 25 year career with Chevron the majority of my time has been in support of our offshore Gulf of Mexico operation.
    • I provided helicopter transportation for our Drilling, Production, Pipeline and Refining operation from Mobile Bay to Galveston, TX.  I advanced to the position of base manager prior to moving overseas in 2012.  I have flown several different helicopters during my career including the Bell 206, Bell 427, Bell 430, Sikorsky S-76, Bell 412 and the Agusta Westland 139.  I hold a Rotary Wing Airline Transport Pilot certificate and have flown over 14,100 accident free hours.

     

    • During my time at Chevron, I was also able to return to graduate school in 2002, earning an MBA from the University of West Georgia in 2004

     

    • I have enjoyed the many opportunities for advancement in my career including working on overseas assignments for Chevron in support of our upstream operation in Venezuela where I managed the flight activity of our contract provider in support of an offshore drilling project in the southern Gulf of Mexico.

     

    • During the last four years, I have been assigned to Chevron’s Cabinda Gulf Oil Company in Luanda and Cabinda, Angola. I worked as Chief Pilot for the first three years. During the past year I served as the Aviation Manager responsible for the oversight and day to day activities of 17 Helicopters, 4 Airplanes and 300 employees in Angola. I have also served as Chevron’s Aviation Expert for all of Southern Africa including Angola, the Republic of Congo, the Democratic Republic of Congo and South Africa.

     

    • Married Lori Littleton in August 1986 and we have two sons, Blake and Blaine. In my time at home, Dad and I have a cattle and hay operation in Collinsville AL where we raise Angus and Brangus cattle.
