• John “Chris” Hamilton (Weaver High School Class of 1981) He earned a BS Degree in Political Science from Jacksonville State University in 1985, and a MS Degree in Justice and Public Safety from Auburn University Montgomery in 1997.

    He has worked for the United States Marshals Service since 1988. In 1998, he was assigned to the USMS Street Terror Offender Program in Washington, D.C., targeting individuals wanted for homicide. After the assassination of Judge Robert Vance, he worked as a member of the Judicial Protection Detail of U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Frank M. Johnson, known for his landmark decisions during the modern Civil Rights Movement. In 1991, Hamilton was entrusted to the Manuel Noriega detail, producing Noriega for his appearance in federal court in Miami, Florida. From 1991 to 2006, he was assigned to several major escape cases, even travelling to Bogota, Columbia, to arrest a Colombian national who had escaped from federal prison in the United States. In 2005, Hamilton spent over a month with the USMS Hurricane Katrina Detail in Biloxi, Mississippi, assisting survivors while maintaining order. 

    Since 2006, Hamilton has been assigned to the USMS Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force as a Team Leader. His team has been responsible for numerous high profile arrests for murder and sex offenses. Some of the arrests include the apprehension of the individual responsible for the on-campus murder of a female student at Auburn University and the apprehension of a fugitive wanted for the attempted murder of his wife and infant son, as well as the murder of a Tuskegee resident. In addition, his team apprehended an individual responsible for the murder and assault of Auburn University student athletes. His team also located and apprehended an individual who murdered two young children and their caregiver in Lowndes County, Alabama. This particular case was very personal to Hamilton due to the young ages of the victims.

    Known for his "immense integrity, hard work ethic and strong moral character" among his colleagues and friends, Chris epitomizes service above self—both personally and professionally. Chris is actively involved in ministry at Mulder United Methodist Church in Wetumka, Alabama. Always supportive of his nephews, he has served as a volunteer coach in their extracurricular activities for several years. He has been married for eighteen years to the former Jenny Brand of Santuck, Alabama, where he currently resides with his three dogs, Max, Reggie and Louie.
