Precision Machining

  • Precision Machining is a program designed to prepare students for an entry level position in a machining related environment and/or continuing their education in Machine Tool Technology at a post secondary institution. 

    Emphasis is on safety, math, measuring tools and instruments, hand and bench tools, blueprint reading, lathe operations, milling operations, layout procedures, grinding machine operations, drilling machine operations, metal cutting saws, and computerized numerical control (CNC).

    Particular emphasis is given to the use of decision-making, problem-solving techniques, and communication concepts to solve technological problems.

    Students will have the opportunity to earn credentials/certification with The National Institute of Metalworking Skills (NIMS) on any or all operations related to Precision Machining Technology.

    This course also reflects the National Skills Standards of the National Tool and Machining Association.
